Papuan government plans to build a laboratory culture to preserve the diverse cultures of Papua stuff. How the people of Papua own welcome this initiative? We ask the Taha al-Hamid, Secretary General of the Papua Presidium Council.
Taha al-Hamid [Tah]: Indeed to this day the local government had not been socialized to people and to the government on down the ranks. But several times we heard the governor said it would build a laboratory culture. How to shape, what was in it, also people do not know.
Tah: I think what the government view, what is the motivation to wake up the government, perhaps more relevant to tell the governor.
Loss of identity
But for the people of Papua, that the protection of fundamental rights, one of whom is the right culture, it is important. Recalling that in the last 40 years of life, when in which Papua joined with Indonesia, that we have experienced the processes of cultural degradation. Papuan People have lost their identity, loss of cultural values. Even if the government really wants to build a laboratory culture within that framework, I think the people of Papua will be very happy.
If it does not just create a window to save the human from the stone age to the Papua could be seen as a wisdom, but if that's really because we wanted to explore, we want to dig, the government wants to encourage the noble values of Papuan culture, I think It deserves our support.
